Individual and family Health plans
Starting in October, we will have the ability to compare health plans in the CA health insurance exchange (Covered CA, SHOP). There are several carriers participating in the exchange and they have simplified the plans broken down by coinsurance amounts of 60%, 70%, 80% and 90%. (bronze, silver, gold, platinum).
There are three pieces of good news for you.
1) There is no longer medical underwriting, plans are guaranteed to be issued.
2) Rates have a range cap that will help maintain a reasonable cost.
3) Annual out of pocket maximums have been reduced compared to current carrier plans.
We will still have the opportunity to shop in the open market for plans, and doing so will allow us to compare rates and plans vs exchange plans.
Next Steps - Exchange plan rate details have not been released yet. Let's set-up a time to talk in October and then we can search for a plan specific to your needs and expected usage.

Starting in 2014, all health insurance plans will share some common characteristics. - Maternity and newborn care
- Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
